I am try to get in touch with an old friend, GILLIAN COWKING. Gillian would be late 60s / early 70s now. She was at Manchester University 1961 to 1963 then at Manchester College of Commerce '63 - '64. She worked in the British Embassy Budapest '64 0 '66 and the went to the British Embassy in 1966. I know she later went to Canada to work but I lost touch with her then. The last address I had for her was "Kingswood", Bilborrow Lane, Brock, Preston Lancs. Gillian had a sister Ann(e). My grandfather and father were principals of the village school in Churchtown from the late 19th to the mid 20th centuries and I lived there until 1947. I still maintain contact with a couple of my contemporaries of that era.

My great~ great~ great grandfather was Joseph Hodskinson born in 1798 and he was a farmer in Elswick where all his children were born. His son Bartholemew (born in 1832) took the farm over from him and then passed it onto his son Robert (born in 1861). Any information about my family would be greatly appreciated.

My great Grand Parents (Richard and Lucy Ashworth - formerly Parkinson) lived in Broughton~ Preston~ Lancashire in 1865 when my Grandma was born (Nancy Ashworth). According to my Grandma's birth certificate~ Richard was a farm labourer and they lived at Broughton Cottage. I am keen to learn more about my relatives and whetehr Broughton Cottage is still standing?

My Great Grand parents (Richard and Lucy Ashworth) lived in Broughton~ Preston in 1865 when my Grandma Nancy Asworth - later Lancaster was born. Lucy's maiden name was Parkinson.

Searching for ancestors - Margaret Barton and sons William born 1842 and Thomas born 1847. Both sons born in Catterall no mention of a father. Margaret was born in churchtown Southport in 1816.

Hello ~** Having just returned to OZ from UK~I was intrigued with a UK newspaper **article about an old WW2 airfield near Manchester subject to psychic **phenomena.. I.e ghostly sounds of old US aircraft landing and taking off when **nothing is visible and encounters with spectres of US pilots missing in **action. ** I've heard stories about Roman Soldiers walking up and down certain areas~ but **this is a new one to me.** I don't believe in ghosts either but I am willing to listen . mygreat great greatgrandma Fanny Atkinson married a Richard Houghton in 1839 in Preston lancs ~ Her Father was a William Atkinson a farmer and the census tells us that she was born in Medlar lancs~She was a servant at the time of her marraige so are there any family members of the Atkinson family still around Medlar~
