Haynes Church End, Bedfordshire (4.6 miles away)
Many people with these surnames were born in Haynes (formerly Hawnes) in Bedfordshire~ England.****One of my pairs of gggrandparents in Haynes were both named COLE. They were Daniel COLE and Emma nee COLES~ who had a common grandfather~ Thomas COLE (b. 1759 in Willington~ Beds) but different grandmothers. Daniel COLE was born in 1814 in Hawnes~ Beds. On Nov 28~ 1848~ Daniel COLE married Emma COLES (b. 4 Jan 1821 in Cotton End~ northeast of Hawnes). Their daughter Maria Ann COLE was born in 1850 in Hawnes~ Beds. Their next child~ James William COLE was born on 29 Oct 1851 in Steppingly~ Beds. Eventually James William COLE resided at Water End House~ located a few miles east of Wheathampstead~ Hertford~ Eng. and a few miles north of Sandridge~ Hertford. Water End House is located immediately west of the modern-day Brocket Golf course and was still occupied in the year 2000. Pictures of Water End House~ Sandridge can be seen on the Internet.****William COLES (b 1805 Cardington~ Beds. d. 1878 Haynes~ Beds) is the brother of Daniel COLES (b. 1814 Haynes). On 11 May 1827~ in Haynes~ William COLES married Ann GREEN (b. c1803 in Haynes~ Beds). Their children were also born in Haynes~ Beds. The parents of Daniel COLE and William COLE were the first of my ancestors who married and lived in Haynes~ Beds. The parents of Daniel and William were James COLE (b. 1783 in Willington~ Beds.) and Maria LINE (b c1782 in Steppingly~ Beds.) who were married on 11 May 1827 in Haynes~ Beds.****My genealogy database contains both related and (to date) unrelated COLE/COLES. The following notes refer to unrelated COLE/COLES:****James COLE (1805-1865) was one of the children of John COLE (b.c1769 in Haynes) and Mary MARSTIN (b 1775 in Haynes) who were married on Nov 3 1794 in Haynes~ Beds. In 1830 in Haynes~ James COLE (b 1805 Haynes) married Ann CHERRY (b 1809 in Haynes) and had 7 children~ one of them was named Reuben COLES (b 1839 in Steppingly~ Beds.). Reuben COLES married Hanah TERRELL (b 1843 in Wicken~ Northampton~ Eng) in Steppingly~ Beds in 1858. This Reuben COLES emigrated to the USA. He and and his wife~ Hannah and their first two children were among the Mormons who successfully walked all the way to Utah from the east coast of the USA. They eventually had 10 more children in Cedar Fort~ UT~ USA. Reuben died in 1925 in Idaho Falls~ Bonneville~ ID~ USA. Many persons in Utah named COLES are descendants of Reuben COLES.****The parents of Ann CHERRY (b 1809 in Haynes) were William CHERRY (b. c1777 in Haynes) and Elizabeth YOUNG (b. 1781 in Haynes)~ who were married on 1802 in Haynes~ Beds. The maternal grandparents of Ann CHERRY (b 1809 in Haynes) were John YOUNG (b c 1732 in Haynes) and Susanna GODFREY (b. c1736 in Haynes). Most~ if not all~ of the siblings of Ann CHERRY were also born in Haynes~ Beds.****My database named "davidcole3" is located at WorldConnect (http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com). It lists all of the persons mentioned above (and many more) who were born in or near Haynes~ Beds.~ Eng. Some of them are buried in St Mary's churchyard at Haynes Church End~ immediately west of Haynes~ Beds.~ Eng.

MOST URGENT: I am looking for family members born in: Toddington~ Bedfordshire from: early 1800's-1900's. Family Surnames are: Bunker~ Cleaver~ Linger and Poney. My Great-Grandmother: Elizabeth Bunker-Linger~ who was a Straw Platter~ (married Henry Cleaver~ he was a Miller). They moved to St. Albans~ in late: 1867. I would be most grateful for any information on any names or any family "memories" that you may have. The Cleaver family~ with my Mother moved to Canada in 1913. I now live in California.
