I am a descendant of the Smith family that lived in the village of Pavenham dating back at least to Samuel Smith born c1768. Newspaper cuttings associated with my G Grandfather Frederick Smith 1853 ? 1938## show that the family were deeply involved in the basket making business using reeds grown locally on the Ouse. Frederick ?s father employed at least 12 men in this work. Frederick however moved to Wellingborough as the demand for baskets dried up where he became a successful fruiterer.**** ****In the process of researching my genealogy I would deeply appreciate any point of contact who may have records/photographs of the old village. I note that a book exists portraying the village but is currently appears out of print.**

I am researching my family history in Odell and would like to enquire if anyone was aware of any historian in the area who maybe able to assist me in my search for more information about my relations from the area and how they will have lived in Odell.Of specific interest to me is the family name Norman during the early 1800's. I have traced my 4th Great-Grandmother Priscilla Norman to Odell where she was born and died in the village. All information and assistance is appreciated

John Perry married Mary Brown at St Peters Church in 1793. He was a farmer and her parents were Bakers in Bedford. Soon the bakery was producing loaves from the farm corn which were ground at the watermill on the Ouse. By 1841 the Perry clan in the village had grown with Thomas and family at 11 Mill Lane~ his mum Mary at 45 Common Street and Gamekeeper George at no 23. Joseph (born in the village in 1812) was a carpenter and he and Eliza lived in Church Lane. The men used to carouse at the pub (The George and Dragon)****Tragedy struck in 1842 when George was killed (details unknown) and within 8 years all the Perrys had moved away. Can anyone fill in any details. I am directly descended from Joseph and used to live in Guernsey but have now moved to Malta.****Roy
