Does anyone have any information relating to Cragg Hall Wood~ Tattingstone. Some of the wood and surrounding area were flooded when the reservoir was built but my father lived there from 1931-1951 and I am trying to find old pictures of the woods and possibly their family home whihc no longer stands.****Many thanks.

My great great grandfather Thomas Kenney (spelt as Kenny) appears in the 1841 Census in Holbrook as a School Master with his wife Mary. They were married in London in 1837 and were in Cheshire in 1850. Any information about him and/or the school would be appreciated.

Research JOHNSON family from Freston. Earliest ancestor married into a FOSDICK/FOSDIKE/FOSWICK family of Woolverstone & Freston. Earliest details from late 1500s. Appeared to follow Wheelwright or Blacksmith occupations. Would love to hear from any family connections. Regards Anne Wiltshire

I have been researching my Family History since the 1990's. My main line is ASKEW and most of my ancestors came from Stutton~East Bergholt~ Tattingstone and Brantham.##I have traced back to the late 1700's on the ASKEW line. My 4th Great Grandfather was Samuel ASKEW. He married Maria GILES in Tattingstone church 25th Nov 1788. He died 23rd Oct 1856 in Brantham aged 87 yrs. I have located him in the 1841 and 1851 Census in Brantham. The problem I have is he just seemed to appear~ saying he was from Stutton. I have recorded a large number of ASKEW's dating from the 1500's but not one was born in 1769 called Samuel. The only one I can find with that birth year comes from Northampton.##I think he could well be who I am looking for.##I was wondering if any local people from here or surrounding areas might have connections to the ASKEW family. I would appreciate it if anyone with information would contact me please.##Sam was an Agricultural Labourer who them became a Husbandman (Tenent Farmer). Most of his sons were Boot and Shoemakers.##I am hoping to get this message printed in all surrounding areas and hope I might get some results after all these years.##Thank you##Trevor Askew##29 Parnell Road##Ipswich##IP1 6SP##01473 740415

This is just an update on the last entry .I had a senior moment and said my teacher at Brantham village school was mrs Walters but that was the teacher in Baylham. The teachers were Miss Turnerand Mrs Howes.. I also Would like to Know if the Girling Family are still in the area ~we went to school with them Gay and Stuart Their grandfather was called Scottie and he looked after the last 14 retired suffok punch Horses to work on the farm .I also wanted to know if you are aware that Brantham Hall was the site of the chief house over several hundred years~ when i was at school we had to do a project that covered the history of the area Mr Keeble the owner told us that when the front driveway to the hall was dug up for repairs ~Roman water pipes were found. also that the house at a later date was moated..Not far away ~I have no idea if it still exists but there was a old quarry where stone age flint arrows etc were found these used to be in the British museum ..as we are talking 1950s i'm not sure that any of this is general knowledge any more.

I'm trying to find information about the parents of Jessy (Jessie) Dobby~ born Ipswich 15 June 1780. She married in London in 1802~ and she and her family emigrated to Tasmania (van Dieman's Land) in the 1810s. She died there in 1852. She is part of our family~ and despite searching all our resources in Australia~ we have not been able to dicover any more than shown here.****
