I am tracing my family tree, my grandfather Frank Flint was born at 199 Saville square, Common Hoyland with his parents Albert and Mary Flint.

I am trying to find out.

If anyone knows of the family - especially of the rumour (in our family) that Albert and Mary were killed in a car accident, unfortunately no one knows the detail or date (the nearest date is sadly between 1911 and 1929).

where the exact location of Saville Square was - it doesn't appear on any local maps but there is a restaraunt called the Saville Square, which I assume is standing on or near the location.

hi. I'm Rob and I am researching my family history in the Thurlestone area. In 1841 Alfred Holland was born at Low Bottoms Thurlestone to Joseph and Elizabeth. Joseph worked on the Sheffield to Manchester railway. I am trying to locate 'Low Bottoms' in Thurlestone. I am told the place name could relate to the ford near to Durrans works on Manchester Road. Can anyone confirm this and are their any other Hollands who's ancestors lived in this area in the period 1840-80?

Hi. I am trying to find my late Mother's Mother. I have found her 1st and 2nd marriages, but no birth or death. My Dad says she was from the Worltey area or even Askern. Probably born around 1884. Married a John William Horsfield in 1913 and later Albert Ernest Horsfield in 1931. Both marriages were in Leeds. One at Whitkirk and the other a Leeds Registered Building.
Any help on this mysterious woman would be appreciated. I know she was alive in April 1953 because she is on my parent's wedding photos. Other than that nothing.

Hi .**have been doing some family research on a lost great grandfather who was "thomas Bedford" died 1946 born 1888 - married Lily Clarke and lived on sheffield road Birdwell til 1928/9 then he lived with a mary lavinia smith ~ and then re-appeared living with an Adderley family from Hoyland . any information good or bad would help to piece missing years into our jigsaw. thank you

I recently discovered my grandmother was born in Wortley 1886 and lived with her parents and siblings at 5 Goodwin Road~ John and Mary Brooksbank. John was a Leather Tanner 'Em'ee' and he died abt 1917.Does anyone have any info on this family.There was 6 children but 2 died at an early age Robert~Matilda~Ethel~Joel~Emma my grandmother and Mark. Emma married a Calvert and they went to Canada in 1921 with my mother Sarah.

Watson/ Reed~ looking for relatives of George Benjamin WATSON who married Eiizabeth Mary REED in 1872~ George was an undertaker. They had one child Ethel Martha WATSON who married Benjamin Roy CLARK a Yorkshire miner engineer they had six children~ Ern b:1912~ Cyril b:1914~ Roy b:1916 fell down a mine shaft in 1932 and died. Twins Leonard and Della b: 1918~ and Colin b.1932. Ethel and Benjamin moved to Australia it is not known when. I would like any information on the family of Benjamin Clark.

Hi~**I lived in Hoyland from 1949 - 1956~ went to St Helens RC school & RC church. Lived in King St Hoyland. The only names I remember were Joe Edwards (my friend). The happiest years of my life and I was sad to leave at the time.**I now live in Melbourne Aus (32yrs) tho I did do a fleeting visit in 2000. Seems a lot smaller and sadly King St has been demolished

Moore family & lawton family.We have our heritage in Wortley~ Penistone & I would appreciate any help in finding out more of my family.My great grandfather & grandfather Thomas Moore & John are buried in Wortley or Penistone.My grat grandmother Mary Lawton was also buried in Wortley & my gret great grandparents Martha & Richard Lawton were buried in 1872 &74 in Wortley.John Lawton 1757 was his father who was also buried in Penistone. My name is Lisa and **I am looking for any information about my father~ **Nelson Bedford Ward. I have not seen him **since I was 9yrs old in 1967 when my parents divorced.
