I was born in Thurmaston in 1940. My mother kept "Audrey's" the hairdressers on Humberstone Lane for 25 years. I went to Thurmaston Junior School~ was christened at St. Michael and All Angels church. My parents were married there (Alf and Audrey Barratt) and my ancestors are buried in the cemetery. My grandad was Harry Durance. He live at Hadrian House for several years and died at age 100. My roots are in what was a little village~ but much changed now I imagine. I live in Ashland~ Oregon~ USA.

We have correpondence dated over 100 years ago stating that our Great Great Grandfather~ Charles Freer had family living in Little Stretton and that prior to immigrating to the U.S. he had made the weather cock for the Stretton Church. This information came from his sister Rebeca Simkin. He came to the U.S. in 1848. We would appreciate any additional information about the family still living in this area and about the church.
