Does anyone remember Gordon and Walter Warwick from Westhouses? They lived in Bolden Terrace and both went to Westhouses Railway School. Their father~ Gordon~ worked at Westhouses Shed from the 1930s to the 1950s and their grandfather was Head Porter at Westhouses Station.

As pupil of the Hope Valley College (nr. Castelton~ Derbys) in the late 70's we watched a 'social' documentary about 'Paddy' from Doe Lea. At a recent reunion I mentioned this to a few people who also remembered this and we wondered what ever happeed to Paddy. Anyone know?

As a pupil at Hope Valley College (Nr. Castleton~ Derbys) in the late 70's I remember being shown a 'social education' documentary on Doe Lea~ Derbyshire. The subject matter was a young lad called (I think) 'Paddy' from Doe Lea. ****I'm unable to find any record or reference of the programme but it left an impression on me and my pals and in the few times we've got together in the past 30 yrs we've often wondered what ever happened to Paddy.****Does any know what happened to him and does the documentary exist in any form (video/DVD?)****Mark H.

Looking for information or any descendants of the Heald family from this area. My Gt-gt-grandfather George was born in Palterton in about 1824. His father was also George born in the later 1700's and possibly a cordwainer/shoemaker. As far as I have found out so far George jnr. started out as apprentice shoemaker but moved to Allestree where he married a Sarah Millward and became a Labourer (farm and general). I would love to know who my great-gt-grandmother was~ are there any records in Palterton church?

i moved to doe lea in 1964 with my parents when my father got a job in glapwell pit in those days it wos abad place to live iwhet to look at the village not long ago and it is funny to see how small it is know i had some good times and a lot of bad memories

My grandfather was Edwin Jephson (b1868)~ youngest child of Herbert (b1830~ son of Herbert~ b1800 in Derby). Edwin moved to West Midlands c.1890~ but his older brothers George and James were still in Sutton in 1905. Their grandchildren will be my second cousins.I have located several distant cousins from the Herbert (1800) root~ but none closer than this~ yet. I visit Arnold several times a year and sometimes come to Sutton for research. I would love to hear of any other likely relatives. Chris Lay

I am researching my family's history. I have some sketchy information that my Great Grandma~ Rachel Ford (nee Truswell)~ came from Blackwell~ Derbyshire and lived on Primrose Hill. She was born in 1888. She had four sisters and a brother. Her father was called James Truswell and her mother was called Pamela Truswell (nee Dakin).
