  jan mere was jean meredith she painted birds as i recall,her son was my pal thru school into the 70's fromlate 60,s. i last had contact with them about 1977 i think they moved from timperley around that time.
  i should imagine jean to be in her late 70's now maybe her married name was brook.hope that helps

I was born in Sale on the 12.12.1940 I have recently found that me mother (Vera Birmingham) my brother (Robert Anthony Blair)~ my grandmother (Lily Liddle) and her second husband Ernest Liddle~ his son Ernest Lloyd and a Mary Blair Liddle. I live in Australia and I'm trying to identify a soldier who was killed in the First World War whose service medals I have purchased.He is listed as having been born in Northenden ~ Lancs.I have no date unfortunately ~ but it would almost certainly be berween 1876 and 1898. His name was Harry Davies.Can you help me-do you know the name ~ have you heard of an old relative~know the local British legion details~Parish birth/death regisry details.**Hope to hear from someone~**Shane.

In reply to Sandi (school in Timperley opposite Battman nursery on Deansgate Lane)****The school in question was St Andrews Primary School which closed in the mid 1980s and was replaced by a small development of 4 houses which front St Andrews Avenue.****The Battman nursery closed in June 2008 and planning permission has been granted for a children's nursery~ medical centre and large nursing home. Work has yet to start although this may be down to the current economic situation. The Gardeners Arms pub is still there and just about trading.****The Battman family still own the houses either side of the former Battman nursery****Hope this proves of use
