Hi, I am keen to know of any family history relating to Sheila Rose Jones (b March 1928/died June 1980). I believe she was the eldest of nine children living at Redstone, Burghill in the 1950s. Sheila was my mother who gave me up for adoption back in 1958. During the last few years, I have been in touch with Peter Jones but have not heard any news recently. I don't believe my father knew many of his cousins personally so unfortunately I have no anecdotes to share. There were 36 cousins all told, from the 12 Jones brothers and sisters; however I know nothing of any Irish connection although this could be on Sheila's father's side. Incidentally, I believe Sheila was known within the family as Molly - no idea why. My Great Great Grandfather Charles William Henry Parry was the village Blacksmith at Credenhill in the 1800s and was married to Phoebe who carried on as a Blacksmith after his death. She eventually married one of the two blacksmiths she employed John Jones and became the village Postmistress. She is buried in the churchyard there. I would appreciate any information relative to the Parrys in Credenhill please

I am currently researching family history and have a relative (g.g.grandmother) Catherine Clark, born circa 1823. The 1851 census indicates she was born in Ludlow Salop. however in 1861 census the entry shows her birthplace is as Burghill Hereford. To confuse the issue further the 1871 census indicated Burghill Herts. I strongly believe that the reference to Herts. (Hertfordshire) is probably a transcription error from the original and should be Hereford. Local records at Ludlow library have failed to find any trace of a Catherine Clark.
So far I have been unable to find any trace of her early life (She married a George Boden and from then on I have located her history) Has anyone any knowledge of a Clark(e) family in the Burghill area aroun the 1820-40 period. Any information would be gratefully recieved.

• I have been unable to confirm details with certainty but I do have information in respect of George Boden. I believe he was the son of George (Snr) and Mary Heywood from the Shropshire area. I have quite a bit of information on the subsequent family but have another major stumbling block on Goerge & Catherines son Edward. I have his life fairly well detailed but cannot find any evidence of his death. (Edward was my wifes G.G. If anyone has any info on a Charles (possibly Charles George) and Mary Ann Robinson (he's from Guernsey~ she's from London~ Middlesex~ both born around 1800) who are living in White Cottage in Wellington in 1871~ especially their burial place or memorial stones~ I'd be really grateful (so would Laura~ another descendant). I've found a convincing death certificate for Mary Ann [Jun 1876 Hereford~ aged 80] but nothing for Charles locally. He was apparently very religious. We've had no luck in finding him yet in Guerney records or Bellary~ India where he worked. Is there a Chapel in Wellington~ and where are the burial records for the church please? Also does anyone know the location of White Cottage? Rose Cottage nr Corners End is before it in the census records~ and The Farm~ and Rose & Crown after it. Many thanks~ Tiffany

• That's lovely of you Malcolm, thanks so much. We have no idea yet if they are our Robinsons or not (his name and date would fit) but it's the only lead we have for our ancestor's parents at present. We've found no trace of them in the British Library India records so unfortunately they may be in the 30% of records that didn't survive.
  
  The only census records we have are (he was presumably in India working before that if he's our Robinson ancestor): 1871 White House, Wellington, Herefordshire, (Reg) Hereford/Burghill, prev: Rose Cottage nr Corners End, next: The Farm/Rose & Crown/Village Charles Robinson 71 c1800 Guernsey, Islands [freeholder] m. Mary A 73 c1798 London, Middlesex.

  I lived in Wellington from 1946 until 1951. It was the last family home for my parents and their five children. My father was the vicar there.
  
  It so happens that I am returning to Wellington at the beginning of June to ring a quarter peal with a brother at the church and to lunch afterwards with three of my siblings. The present vicar is to ring with us. If you are still looking for the Robinson grave or burial, let me know.
  
  The Rose & Crown was the village Pub (Now a Gastro-pub called The Wellington Inn. I can ask about White Cottage & Corner's End. I shall have my camera with me, so if I find anything I can photograph it for you!

I am looking for my great grandfather Henry Johnson whose last known address in 1922 was Buskwood Farm~ Dinmore Hill~ Leominster~ Hereford. At that time he received a WWI medallion for his son George Johnson who died in the war. He had four children that I know of: Ada~ my grandmother~ who married Edwin Taylor in Canada in 1906## George who also emigrated to Canada## Henry Edward who also emigrated to Canada## Ellen~ who emigrated to the U.S. If he died in this area I would like to know where his grave is. I am researching our family~ Bowcott. Anybody have any info on the Bowcott family who lived in or near Bodenham in the 1800s~ in Wolphy Hundred or Cholstry.**I am back as far as 1841 census with John Bowcott and family living in Cholstry. John Bowcott was born in 1811 and married an Elizabeth~ maiden name unknown.Any info on John's parents around 1800 please olr even further back?can anyone tell me what John did as work as i cant decipher the 1841 census-only the word labourer I think. Thanks for any help.

I am looking for information about my 4xgrt grandmother~ Mary Phillips who was a convict transported to Hobart in 1826. In her records her place of birth is listed as Strutton~ Herefordshire~ which I think could be Stretton. She was born in about 1806~ she died in Tasmania from consumption in 1842. Any help would be much appreciated.

G'day everyone**I am looking for information on the Upper Hill area. In particular I would like to find the location of Desert Cottage. I believe it may have been demolished but I would like to find its site. My great grandparents James and Margaret Price were living there I believe in the 1940s They celebrated their golden wedding in 1955 and I have a family photo taken outside a rather substantial building a village hall? school? church? WHERE IS ORDIS FARM?****I am trying to locate Ordis Farm near Sutton St. Nicholas. It was owned by the Price Family in the early 1900s and last owned by the late William Jones until the late 1970s or early 1980s when he retired and the farm was sold. My mother-in-law Evelyn Mary Jones was born there and I would like to take some photos of the farm as it appears today to show her. My husband and I will be visiting from Canada in the fall of 2004 and would be grateful for any information that could be provided as to how I could **locate it.
