Hi,
I am looking for anyone who links in with the Kingshott family anywhere in the world. We originated in Fernhurst, with major branches in the surrounding villages of Lurgashall, Bramshott and various other places. From here we went to Australia, Canada and the USA. Drop me a line if you have any links to them at all.
Cheers

I am seeking information about two families living in this area inthe 1800/1900's and possibly into the 20th century. Knight - from Binstead...my gt. grandmother was born Lilian Knight in 1873 I think. Her parents were George Knight and Mercy Barnett. Her siblings were## Mariah~ James~ Jane~ Arthur~ Alfred~ William~ Ernest~ Alice & Ada. Lilian married Frederick Reginald Smith in about 1895 - he was a soldier with RASC in Aldershot. He was born in Froyle in about 1873 and died in 1909. I am interested in any information~ living relations or leads anyone can help me with. I don't know who Frederick's parents were or where they lived...I don't know where they are buried (also lilian and Fredercik's graves) and would love it if someone loclly knows of these two families and can help me. Lilian remarried after the death of Frederick Smith~ she married George Wright sometime after 1909 - I know nothing about him and I do not know where they lived or anything else after 1909. Lilian and Frederick Smith had children: Frederick Alick Snow Smith (my grandfather)~ Reginald George~ Ernest Frank~ Gladys and Teddy who died young. I am told the name Snow appears in past generation middle names but so far apart from FAS Smith I cannot find anyone with this middle name. Can someone please email me if they can help. Appreciated. Jane.

William Stewart
Hartley Mauditt, Hampshire (3.8 miles away)
Stewart~ Stiward~ Styward~ and Stuart. Seeking to find my**family of Stewarts'. Wanting some one to take pictures of**the church and crypt at St. Leonard's Church...**Searching for Nicholas Stewart buried at Hartley Mauditt~**Hampshire County~ England. From - Some Ancient Churches in North East Hampshire Two miles north of Oakhanger lies St Leonard's Church~ Hartley Mauditt~ which having lost its village stands isolated beside the village pond. This was essentially a manor church~ built between 1100 and 1125 by one of William the Conqueror's knights~ William de Mauditt~ in a clearing in the forest. He would also have built the manor house and cleared the land for growing crops and grazing his animals~ and his family and servants would have worshipped in the church. The building is a simple nave and chancel~ although originally it probably would have had an apsidal east end. The porch protects a beautifully decorated Early English doorway. Inside is the 15th century font~ and in the south wall is a Norman window. The chancel arch is an early Norman horseshoe arch~ and the east chancel window is Early English~ the same period as the present east end which replaced the apse.Beneath the chancel is a crypt~ probably the Stuart family vault~ which is entered by a doorway (now bricked up) which lies behind the pulpit. After the de Mauditt's~ the manor passed by various families to John of Gaunt and remained Crown property until 1603. The Stuart family bought the manor in 1614 and held it for many years. Their**monuments~ several with colourful heraldry~ are in the chancel. In 1798 the owner preferred to live in London~ but his wife wished to remain in Hartley Mauditt~ so he **demolished the manor house~ thus forcing her to follow him. She is buried in the churchyard~ so her heart at least did in the end return. The destruction of the manor**meant loss of employment~ and the village was abandoned. The church was restored in 1854 and 1904~ the last when the bell turret was renewed. Today the church is well **preserved and beautifully maintained Best Wishes~ Richard wrstewart@embarqmail.com ****

Good memories of Borden when I was posted there with REME in 1960. 4th batt. and then 6th batt.**Life is a curious journey. Although I went into National Service fighting and clawing to stay out~ it was that which eventually gave me the experience to apply for a position with an American company. I am now retired in Glendale~ Arizona and live by a lake and also have a log cabin in the mountains.
