John Bolton
Yalding, Kent (4.5 miles away)
My Grandfather, Edward (Ted) Bolton was born in Yalding in 1870 and worked there as a farrier. I am researching family history and would like any information related to him.
PS.
I now find that my great grandfather, Cornelius Bolton was the landlord of the Duke of Marlborough (Collier Street) for some years and that another of his sons William worked as a blacksmith in the area for a time.

Steve, Thanks for the message. My family tree only goes back as far as 1793 (William Bolton)but I have some documents and photos not in the public domain that may interest your sister. I suspect that you are referring to the 'Ancestry' site, of which I am a member but do not maintain a full tree there. I will email you, hopefully to make arrangement for the information exchange.

Hi, My mother was born and raised at Forge Farm, New Barn Road, Hawkenbury. So i believe her Granfather moved his family there sometime around the begining of WW2. All i know is that there would have been a Ernest SnR, Blanche, Ernest Jnr, Eileen and Mary ...... Sometime around 1925 onwards. Apparently my great grandfather (Ernest Snr who, incidently had only one leg and possibly worked as a Rag 'n' Bone man) was killed in an accident in the local area sometime around 1941. It's alleged that it was some form of 'traffic' accident. If anyone knows anything or remembers any information that may help me clarify or expand on any of these details i would be exceptionally greatful.
Many thanks
Robin Croucher

Sir John Stuard was a Captain at Leeds Castle. His father**Sir John Styward~ knight "Scotangle" had connections to Coventry England. The family ends up in Pateshull~ England****The Latinised adjective 'Roffensis' refers to Rochester****During 1450~ Coventry had become a favoured sanctuary for the Lancastrian King Henry VI and his wife~ Margaret of Anjou. The Royals fled here in June after an uprising by 50~000 men of Kent. In 1451~ King Henry VI granted Coventry along with its surrounding hamlets the elevated status of County~ and so~ from the 6th December **1451 there existed the "County of the City of Coventry" which would carry this status for nearly four centuries. **The settlements around the city forming the county were: Radford~ Keresley~ Foleshill~ Exhall~ Ansty~ Shilton~ Caludon~ Wyken~ Henly~ Wood-end~ Stoke~ Biggin~ Whitley~ Pinley~ Asthill~ Harnell~ Horwell & Whoberley~ plus parts of Walsgrave-on-Sowe and Styvechale.**The Royal family's problems of 1450~ things were to get worse. King Henry VI had become prone to periods of mental illness~ and in 1455 suffered a second bout~ lasting into 1456. It was perceived that the King's power~ and indeed his life~ might be in danger~ and so Queen Margaret~ now effectively in charge~ moved the Royal Court **to Coventry~ known by many as her "secret harbour". Between 1700 & 1750 several of my CHILDREN ancestor from Headcorn and my SAXBY ancestors from Leeds were married in Langley. These were people from wealthy families and the that so many were married there that it leads me to believe that there must have been something special or significant about Langley at that time.****The Langley Parish Records show as many "outsiders" marrying there as local residents. Does anyone have any suggestions as to why?****Any help gratefully appreciated. **
