My great-great-great-grandfather Joseph Lawrence was born in 1801 and raised his family in Haughley Green. His sons James, Nathan, and Elijah left for Cambridgeshire to become blacksmiths, while their brother Ephraim stayed in the Haughley area. I am descended of Nathan who ended up in Burwell, Cambridgeshire. I would like to know more about the Haughley/Haughley Green side of the family, and especially about Joseph's father George, if anyone could be of assistance. Thanks!

• Yes, Figgy was born Edith Maud Lawrence (sister of Elsie) and she had two daughters Margaret and Anne. MArgaret has a daughter Marie and son George still living in that area.

• Hello Mark, I am descended from Ephraim Lawrence who married Sarah Lawrence (Moss) whose son was Stanley George Lawrence ( 1881 - 1964)and his daughters were Figgy Lawrence and Elsie Lawrence (later marrying Frank Dorling from Old Newton)and their son is my Dad Michael Dorling. We also have some pictures of Ephraim and his wife I beleive as well down the tree to now. So I guess we are related!

Hello~**Looking for information on John Devereux who according to International Genealogical Index was baptized in Rattlesden 1 March 1614 with parents Peter and Julian. A Peter Devereux had married Julian Francis in 1601 also in Rattlesden. Anyone with clues to confirm or refute ancestry please contact me. I think this John emigrated to Massachusetts in 1630. looking for any information on Thurston Hall or any local manor house/hall or residence of local gentry. My grandmother was Jane Annie Cocksedge (illegitamate) b 1890 Thurston from the large Cocksedge family who lived there and in the surrounding areas and my grandfather was Ernest Green who's family also came from the area and his grandmother was a Cocksedge. My Father Noel Gould was born in Woolpit in 1931 to Walter Gould and Ivy Robinson Walter was the son of Charles Scase Gould but holds both his mothers maiden name (gould) and his Fathers name scase he was born in Onehouse Workhouse~ Trying to find more information about his father Robert Scase mother Lydia Moore Does anyone have any info relating to this family

I am interested in finding about my ancestors and the kind of life they would have lived in this area of Suffolk. My great grandparents Ernest and Catherine Lawrence lived in the village until 1970s. Ernest's father~Ephraim was born in Haughley about 1833 and his mother~Sarah Elzabeth Moss was born in Wetherden about 1843. I think Ephraim's father was Joseph born in Haughley 1802 and mother Elizabeth Elmer about 1804. The Green appears to have been an address of the family. Any information would be most gratefully received.

• Hello Sharon, My Husbands Grandmother was Elthea Lawerence she married a Murton. we do not know his Christian name they lived at Wetherden then Grandma married a George Bridges and lived at Haughley Green. also a lovely lady we only knew as Figgy was a Lawerence ( she was My husbands mothers cousin) she Married Stan Fellingham and lived at Haughley Green..my husbands family are all departed now of that generation but a huge family tree as there were two marriages

I am trying to find out about Dorothy Bullett who attended Hessett School~ Suffolk~ in 1910. I believe she married my father~ Lewis Wheeler~ in Barnsley~ Yorkshire in 1927. My father married my mother in 1942. Neither of them ever mentioned Dorothy & I am curious to know more about her.

I was horried to learn of a thatch fire in February at Valley Farm~ Buxhall~ I am a long time friend of the Clarke family who lived there~ the last time I visited them there was in 1980. If anyone can give me any information on anyone of this family I would be so grateful**I would hate to think that the many happy memories I have of the farm and my visits there are now laying in ruins.
