John Wilks
Ingatestone, Essex (4.8 miles away)
My 3 times great grandfather John CORLEY was born about 1787 and married Hannah HARE. They both died in Fryerning and are buried there, he in 1826, she in 1868. They had at least 10 children, all born in Ingatestone between 1803 and 1826. I have so far failed to trace Baptismal Records for any of them, but there is a suggestion they may have been Congregationalists. Does anyone have access to any church records for the 1800s ? John himself may have been born locally, and I'd dearly love to know where. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I am looking for information about Kelvedon Cottage and the Comerford family in the early 1900's. There is no sign of a Kelvedon Cottage at Kelvedon Hatch on the 1901 census although I have a photograph taken about 1902/3 in their garden.**My mother Eva Comerford used to speak about Stondon Massey and I wonder if the cottage was there or nearby. Any information would be much appreciated.

I am looking for information on my Great-Great Gandfather~ John CHOAT~ who was a Tollgate Keeper in Shenfield~ between at least 1851 to 1861. John was born between 1788 and 1791 (based on census returns and his reported age when he died in 1880). Does the Tollhouse still stand? On the 1871 census~ he was living in a "Farm House~ side of High Road in Hutton. He was reported to have been born in Burnham~ Essex. Any information would be great! Thanks.

I am writing from Toronto~ Ontario~ Canada~ in the hopes of obtaining some information on the home and/or current owners of my ancestral home~ called**"Wyatts" near Doddinghurst. My Grandfather~ Charles Wauthier~ was born and raised there## his Father~ Arthur Ernest Wauthier~ (and Mother~ Florence Pope of Pope Movers) lived there in the late 1800's~ early 1900's. An interior wall of the house has the initials AEW 1902 inscribed on it.**I would like to visit at some point in the not-too-distant future and I have old photos that may be of interest to the current owners. **Any information that I could gather would be most gratefully appreciated.****Regards~**Lillian Wauthier**lillianw@interlog.com**

I'm researching a colonial relative~ Gabriel Archer who arrived with Capt John Smith in Jamestowne VA~ USA in 1606. Gabriel Archer is identified as having come from Mountnessing and I'm wondering if there is anyway to validate his existence in Mountnessing and if their are any relatives who remain in the area?****From what I've discovered he was a very significant individual in the founding of this first English colony in North America.

I live in San Antonio~ Texas and have recently discovered that I am a direct descendant of John Brown~ Jr~ born in Ingastestone around 1650. His father John Brown Sr.~ was born in England as well in 1626~ but my reference does specify Ingatestone. This intrigues me because I am retired from the USAF and have spent much time in the vicinity of Witham~ Braintree~ and and RAF Weathersfield without knowing of the family connection. If there are any descendants of John Brown Jr/Sr in Ingatestone (both of whom left in the latter 1600's to go to Virginia and/or North Carolina) please contact me.

Trying to trace ancestor Isabella Drury born c1801 Mountnessing Essex father Meeson Drury and Mother Susannah (not sure if spelt correctly for the time). Presume the parents born 1780's. I think Meeson is the surname of the father's mother.
