And ancestry.co.uk. Still finding lots out and attachments to garwoods. But stuck on the Lings as I know Esther garwood (Annie's sister) married my great grand uncle Joseph Ling. so gonna start looking in the other side too. I would be very grateful for any help anyone may be able to give regarding either Michael Simpson or Peter Anthony Simpson who may live in Hawkdon/Lingwood.

I believe Peter Anthony Simpson may have died in 2008 but that his brother, Michael, may still live there.. possibly Chapel Road.. but I'm really not certain of that detail.

I am looking for ancestors for a Frederick Jackson. He was born c1801 (only a rough approximation as he only appeard in 1841 cencus and died in 1843). He married Elizabeth Hardy in 1828. I 'believe' he had a brother Thomas Jackson born c1809.**Thank you for taking the time

Any information on my gr gr grandfather Abraham Payne born 1793 Hartest~ children Eliza 1819 married Henry Bumpstead~ Abraham 1821~ Hannah 1823 and my gr grandfather James born 1828 who married Lucy Farrow of Hawstead in 1856~ they lived in Brockley Green until moving to the Sheffield area in around 1870

  first. are you related to jason payne, i was waiting for him to tell me what he knew so i could fill in with what i knew but he never got back to me.
  i live about 50 miles from brockley. i was born and brought up in sheffield and thought thats where my family originated until researching the family tree and found i've returned to my roots county. harry is still a mystery to me. i cannot find his birth but he married a widow with about 7 children when he was 40 and they moved to sheffield, living in owlerton [wadsley bridge] are you in touch with other members of the family? i would love to lnow about the ones who lived in brightside and attercliffe

• Hi Irene, I hope that one day you read this comment, I am also a direct descendant of Abraham Payne, Hartest; this through James. the word Bolsterstone should ring a bell as well as Harry. I have a very comprehensive colections of 'B D M' Certificates relating to my Blood Line Descendancy, as well as to extentions of the family; but unfortunatley Harry is still a mystery. I know he was still at home with James and lucy, and Charles when aged 26 in 1901. I have checked the known records of the Sheffield pals but to no avail. However from the Cert's of other members of the family at least three other very close relations families all lived within a short distance of Rockingham street; Being:- Owlerton, Brightside and Attercliffe. I realy think that we shold meet up. I hope to come down to Souffolk latter this summer 2010.If you live only 3.4 miles from Brockley there is a chance that I could find you from voting list in BstE town hall. or ring me on 01924-893240. Alcock/ Alecock - Family history. I have traced my family tree back to a Daniel Alcock/ Alecock whose army record says he was born in Barrow in 1816. He married a Rebbecca Sparrow also from Barrow. They married in 1845 in Bury St. Edmunds. His father is described as William Alecock a Thantcher. However I was unable to find his baptism when I searched the parish records. However there where other thatchers in Barrow with the name Alecock/ Alcock including a Christopher Alcock whose name seemed to change over time possibly to Elcock. Does anybody know of a William Alecock in this area at this time?

• Hi Audrey,my name is Jim van Yperen and I live in Holland.My grandmother was English and her mother was Martha Ratford. She is the daughter of William and Eliza Ratford. I recently found this using the 1881 England Census. Apart from George there are more children
  Martha married James Edwards and as far as I know had one daughter. Florence Edwards. She married Gijs van Yperen. Florence died in 1945. I'am from 1952 so I never saw her.

I have an ancestor called Hezekiah Sealey born Hartest abt 1770 father Senekiah and mother Mary. hezekiah married a Susanna Cresswell in Sudbury about 1790 and they lived in Bures St mary on the Essex/Suffolk border until their deaths in the 1800s. I just recently learned about some of my ancestors who were from Barrow~ Suffolk. The Lyes family from Joshua Lyes and Mary Nunn (1760s to ?)~ their son~ John Lyes and Frances Peacock (both born late 1780s - moved to St. Pancras~ Middlesex where they married in 1823. I believe that Frances Peacock returned to Barrow where she died and is buried - possibly about 1850?****I would be interested in hearing from anyone who is related to any of these people or who knows anything about them.****Thanks so much. ****Margie
