Victor Styles
Chesham Bois, Buckinghamshire (1.6 miles away)
I am trying to seek the life of William Kensett Styles when staying at Isledon Long Park Chesham Bois, from around 1905 till aound the 1930's his children where born in the area, and I think he commuted to London on the Metroplotan Line. His Children were Cecilia Anne 1912-1998, born Hampstead Heath, William de Tongres 1914-1979 born Long Park, Jane Francis 1916-1999 born Chorley Wood, Victor Kensett Styles 1918-2001. Jane Francis 2nd marriage was to Dennis Boyce, and they lived in Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire. She hit the headlines in the 1950's when she fought off a bull from attacking a farmer with a walking stick, she was awarded the BEM, and appeared on the BBC programme 'In Town Tonight'. Victor Kensett Styles, had an interesting career, he was captured in North Africa, escaped from an Italian POW camp, joined and fought with the partisans under instructions from London, M.I.D, was recommended BEM, but his file was made secret for 85 years, and never got his medal, or got paid!! Their father William Kensett Styles 1874-1940 won Gold & Silver Medals for shooting at the 1908 & 1912 Olympic Games, I believe he went to Greece to one of the first meeting to restart the Modern Olympic Games. Finally is Isledon Long Park in Chesham Bois still there?

I have a friend that as a child was evacuated Missenden during WWII. She would like to find that family. They had one son and the father worked on a farm. They lived next to an orphanage. If anyone can give us some hints please contact us.

I am conducting some family tree research and think a Phyllis Margaret Jones nee Paxton who died in Great Missenden on 31 July 2007 was part of my mother's side of the family. She was widowed. I would be interested in hearing from anyone who could tell me anything about her to help with my research.****Regards**Stephen Luke**lukee@btinternet.com**07818 445606
