Hi,
I have been researching the Elmdon Hoy and related families. My great grandfather Allen Hoy born 1837(Nehemiah 1814-1901)left Elmdon and emigrated to Australia 1857 on the Irene. His two second cousins John (1819-1890)and James Hoy (1827-1907) sons of John 1797-1870) also emigrated to Australia living in the Walcha District of NSW. Allen went to Brisbane.

Would like to contact anyone who descends from the Jeremiah Hoy 1640-1705 son of James and Margreat.

Hi Jackie**I have just noticed your message on the UK Villages site about the Dyers.I have the Dyers in my family tree. My paternal Grandmothers mother was a Harriet Dyer born 1859 in Arkesden~her brother was Alfred Dyer born 1856. He married an Emily Elizabeth Harvey in 1890 in Elmdon.They had 4 children(up to 1911).Corneluis born 1892~Jesse Frank born 1894~Thomas John born 1897 and Leonard Arthur born 1900.I don't know if this is the same Thomas John you are looking for.I don't have any record of a marriage for him. I also visited the burial ground at Duddenhoe~but did not see any graves for Thomas.** **Regards**Ed

John and Fordham were agricultural labourers and Emma was in domestic service (out of the county) John moved to Nottinghamshire for a few years before returning to Boreham. My grandfather Henry Charles Curtis died circa. 1946 & lived in Ugley~ Essex with his wife Ethel. They had a smallholding & kept quite a few chickens. If anyone remembers him or knew him or knows where he was buried I would be pleased to hear from them. He served in the First World war.

I have been researching the Lavender family from Rickling. James Lavender was born at Saffron Waldon~ Essex in 1806 who married Asenath Joyce who was born in 1803 in Thaxted. James Joyce born 1781 at Rickling~ could he be Asenath's father? James and Asenath lived at Rickling 1841 to 1861 according to the census and had their children there. Richard John Lavender~ James and Asenath's son was born in Rickling Green~ Bishop Essex~ England in 1831 and came to Bellingen~ NSW~ Australia. Richard is my line. I would love to find links to the family in the area.

Hi**I am looking for information on Kate Dyer born 1885 in either Elmdon or Littlebury. She married a Fred Leaney in 1914 and they lived in Sussex. Fred was killed in action in France 1917. My family~ CORKETT~ lived in the village from 1762 to 1880 when they moved to London. I would appreciate any assistance in establishing a link with other Corkett groups~ as with the main cluster at Leighton Buzzard.**I am trying also to discover from where they came prior to living in the village for over 100 years.
