Yarnfield, Staffordshire (4.8 miles away)
My Grandmother~ Ada Simpson (nee Knight) and Grandfather~ Thomas Simpson both lived on farms in Stone area. They married and moved to Yarnfield where they ran a public house until Lloyd George closed it and many others. They turned the pub into a shop and so remained in Yarnfield until moving to Stretford around the 1919/20 period. They had six children~ my Mother Vera being the second eldest and she was born in 1921. Working back I presume my Grandmother would have been born around 1898/1900. My Grandfather around 1895/98. Anyone with any information please feel free to contact me:- BDBMitch@aol.com My Mother~ Vera Simpson used to visit Yarnfield in her youth where someone in the family~ Auntie~ owned an orchard. Vera would always visit~ bringing brothers or sisters along with her.

In about 1813 my great great etc... grandfather John amos was born in Podmore. He married Martha Lawrence before 1837 at Manchester Cathederal . When his son Zaron was christened he gave his occupation as boatman. Later in a census he is a waterman 1841 again in a census he is showen as an engine driver. One of his sons Joshia Amos later moved to Wolverhampton to work on the foundries. Any relations about? Also where if possible can I view the christening records from Pedmore Parish Church?

Sharon Garside,
Nice to meet another of the Amos clan. I do have copy of John and Martha's wedding cert. I am really interested in Louisa, her mother ended up living with her. Louisa lived in Pendelton and I was wondering if they are buried in that area? This is my e-mail chrissie.duffy1@yahoo.co.uk. feel free to send your phone no or I will just reply by e-mail,Reguards

Hello Chrissie I too am a descendant of John Amos and Martha Lawrence (married 15 nov 1834) through their daughter Louisa Amos who married her (2nd)cousin John Lawrence, grandson of John Lawrence (senior) who (I think) was father of Martha Lawrence! Martha's mother was Rachel. Podmore could be in either Parish, Ashley or Standon. The Parish records should be at Stafford record office but I have not ventured that far. I guess we are cousins. I grew up in Manchester but now live in south Cheshire not far from Podmore. Regards Sharon Garside

I am a descendant of Edmund Pearsall (Pershall) and am looking for pictures of Pershall Manor or any old farms that might have been in existance in 1530 to 1620. Also~ I wonder if there are any Pershalls (Pearsalls) still living in the area.**Thank you for any information.
