Nettlestead, Kent (4.1 miles away)
Hi, my name is Tony Rivers. I am trying to trace anybody who knows about Frederick George Phillips (my grandfather) who was born in 'Key Lands' Nettlestead in the district of Yalding. His father was 'King' Phillips and was married to Isabella, formally ALLEN. His recorded birth is 23rd May 1883.
If anybody knows anything about these families I would be delighted to hear from you at: tonyrivers@hotmail.co.uk
Thanks

Ryarsh, Kent (3.0 miles away)

I found some Ryarsh Parish records online and found a James Welles christened on 13 Mar 1792 to a Nicholas WELLES. This happens to be the EXACT date of my 'brick wall' James Welles was to have been born (according to his headstone in Norwalk, Huron Co., Ohio, USA). The first actual proof of James I can find is his marriage to Persis EARLE in Windsor Co., Vermont, USA in Dec 1810.
After finding this record in Ryarsh, I have scoured all emigration records to Canada and America I can find for the timeframe 1792-1810 ... no James or Nicholas with right age is found.
I was hoping someone might be able to help me with the WELLES/WELLS family who lived in Ryarsh in the mid- to late-1700s. Nicholas' father 'appears' it might be James WELLES according to the same Ryarsh Parish records.
Any help would be appreciated.

My Grandfather, Edward (Ted) Bolton was born in Yalding in 1870 and worked there as a farrier. I am researching family history and would like any information related to him.
PS.
I now find that my great grandfather, Cornelius Bolton was the landlord of the Duke of Marlborough (Collier Street) for some years and that another of his sons William worked as a blacksmith in the area for a time.

Steve, Thanks for the message. My family tree only goes back as far as 1793 (William Bolton)but I have some documents and photos not in the public domain that may interest your sister. I suspect that you are referring to the 'Ancestry' site, of which I am a member but do not maintain a full tree there. I will email you, hopefully to make arrangement for the information exchange.

Michael Simmons
Mereworth, Kent (4.3 miles away)
I am investigating my family who originate from Mereworth. The furthest I have traced is John Simmons who was born about 1786 in Mereworth. He was married to Rebecca Perrin on 12/8/1804 at All Saints Church in Maidstone. John and Rebecca had 7 children - John~ Rebecca~ Thomas~ William~ Henry~ Mary and James~ all of whom were born in Mereworth. James is my Great~ Great Grandfather. He was married to Mary Colegate on 11/11/1855 at West Peckham. The gravestone for James and Mary was still clearly visible in 2006 at the Church in Mereworth when I last visited. I have managed to trace my ancestry back as far as John Simmons (Born 1786~ Mereworth). Richard Perrin (born 1701~ probably in Wateringbury~ where he died in 1771). Ann Pankhurst (NFD). Elizabeth Fowler (born 1757 in East Malling). Mary Baldwin (born 1795 in Hadlow). James Colegate (born 1751 in West Peckham) and Martha Beel (born 1756 in West Peckham). I also have various addresses for the area which are shown on the Census'. I would be very grateful if anyone form the area could provide assistance in taking my family further~ as I'm afraid I think I have now 'hit a brick wall'. I know the 'Simmons' family were very prominent~ particularly in Mereworth during the late 1700's and 1800's and guess that some of the family are still living there. I am particularly intersted in the 'Simmons' name~ though would welcome any assistance towards all the family names. I am also in contact with a number of distant relations who have hit the same 'wall'. Can anyone help me - PLEASE!!
