I would much appreciate hearing from anyone who might have any knowledge of the Long Ashton Police Station in about 1900-1901. My grandfather was a young police constable and based there briefly at the time. I would like to learn something about the village at that time. Also, is there anyone who might know anything about local blacksmiths at the same period, especially associated with Bower Ashton. I am particularly interested in Mr Harris who, in the 1901 Census, is described as a "retired blacksmith". My grandfather was boarding with Mr and Mrs Harris at the time the Census weas taken. Looking for any information about Ivy Kathleen TANNER and Alfred MARSDEN who were married on 9/2/1918 at The Parish Church~ S.Martin~ Knowle~ Bristol. Ivy was a munitions worker living at 123 Somerset Road~ Knowle.**Alfred MARSDEN was a driver with an Australian Field Company of Engineers during WW1. He spent some time in France in a Traffic Control Diversion at the end of the war and for some time after up until October 1919. He then was transferred back to Australia and was demobbed. Alfred and Ivy's first son was born in February 1920 at Lismore~ N.S.W. I would like to know how they met and lived during the WW1.? Are there any good sources of historical information about ordinary people's lives during WW1? What was Ivy's life like before the war? Please send any information to 2008@dodo.com.au.

I would like to find any information on John mycroft boucher who lived at Denegarth House church road in Leigh woods upto 1944~ also any informatio regarding his brother george who lived at Maybank leigh woods and his son Arthur roy who lived at lakehouse. and last of all their sister Edith Hannam (nee boucher) who lived in village~ famous tennis player. My paternal grandmother~ Charlotte Prince Morris~ was from Bristol~ England.Her mother was Annie Gertrude Watson Prince(DOB-4/20/1858) and her father~Alfred Hector Prince(DOB-3/22/1859 born at Westbury~ Wiltshire. My great aunt Nora Roberts lived at 9 Northville Road~ Northville in Bristol and was at that address in 1963.Her husband was Wilson and they had a daughter~ Julie who was married to Cecile and they had 3 sons~ John Christian~Andrew Charles~ and Jeremy George. They moved to Australia around 1960~ I believe. Does any have information that will help me with my family geneology ? Thank you.

Desperatly trying to find the ancestors of my husband. Looking for any info~ photos~ of John Alexander Drake born 1835circa in Bedminster~ Somerset. All I know is the name of his father was John Drake~ gentleman. Assuming there is some record of this family but is difficult to trace from here. Dont know if John A had any siblings but could be an Elizabeth. Does the name Studdy ring any bells. Please help me. My father Ernest Charles Gregory was orphaned at 6. His brothers and sisters all died very young. His father was called Frederick William Gregory and his mother was Elizabeth Alice Gregory (nee Maloney - Irish). My father's grandparents were George Gregory~ born in Henbury around 1860 and Emma Gregory born in Westbury. She was two years older than him. They had 6 children altogether. I am trying to find out anything to do with the grandparents. Any help would be much appreciated.
