I am searching my family tree and get stuck on this gentleman Mr William Platts~ wife was Elizabeth Mann. We can only find his mother~ Mary Smith~ his father is documented as John King. **William took the Smith surname and the King surname but married as a Platts. Was he addopted~ illegitamate. **He was an Iron Puddler and had 10 children. Can anyone shed any light on the real name of his father?**Would love to "nail" this one as it would open the floodgates as to my true ancestry. He was born in Coleorton

I am working on the genealogy of the Tilley family and the connection with mining in the Linton and Church Gresley areas where I know the lived and worked from about 1820 to 1910. Thomas was a common male surname for the eldest son/father for three generations and I know they lived in Station Rd in Gresley around 1881 - 1891 and that this still exists. As part of my research from Australia I am looking for any Bickley family that may still be in the Swadlincote area. I see an Alfred and Louisa Bickley~ Burton-on-Trent on the 1911 census. Can anyone help with providing Kins/cey transcriptions from Coleorton Parish.**I have a Thomas Kins/cey b.c. 1798 who I am trying to find info. for. When he married Eliza Ridgway at St.Werburgh~ Dby. in 1836 he was listed as a farmer at Breedon. He does not appear in Breedon or Worthington parish registers.**Thomas and Eliza had 4 children Susan 1837~ Thomas 1840-1840~ Thomas 1842 and Jasper 1851 all baptised at Breedon or Worthington.**Willing to exchange info. on Kins/cey's freely to anyone that can assist.**Thank You~**Ian Scott~ Melbourne~ Vic. I am searching for a Thomas Kinsey (b.c. 1798) who married Eliza Ridgway (b.c. 1819) at St.Werburgh~ Dby. 16 December 1836. On the parish marriage register he is shown as a farmer at Breedon. He does not appear as far as I can see in Breedon/ Worthington P/R's. As Coleorton~ Worthington~ Breedon on Hill families were closely connected can anyone provide printout of Kins/cey entries in Coleorton Parish Registers up to 1812 or provide info. on Thomas (b.c.1798) and his parents.**If anyone else is searching for Kins/cey I can provide a great deal of info. re. those of Leicester origins.**

I have traced my ancestors back to John Pullin (christened in Mancetter 1750)who married Ann Thompson in Baddesley Ensor in 1780. His Parents were John Pullin from Swepstone & Catharina (nee Norris). Married in 1745 in Mancetter. I believe his grangparents were John Pullin (or possibly spelt Pullyn)~ born in Swepstone in 1710.**Does anyone have any more information please?

• I have now confirmed that John Pullyn, born in 1685 & married in 1710 at Swepstone church to Anne Barre, was my 6* great grandfather. His 8 children were baptized in the church & 4 of them were buried in the churchyard. His parents were Richard & Elizabeth, but I have not been able to trace their origins or any birth, marriage or burial information or dates. Can anyone help please?

Further to my previous posting regarding William Thompson - who worked as a Game Keeper in Cole Orton. I have checked the previous pages of the 1841 census and note that many of the residents lived in Farm Town. Does anyone know of a large estate there abouts?****Many thanks - any information really appreciated

I was born feb. 1938. My mother~ Olive Hayes~ gave address as The Crest~ Donisthorpe. I now belive it should have been The Crest~ Linton.
