I was born in Blyth went to Wright Street Infant Morpeth Road Junior and PLR senior. I left Blyth in 1965 with Jim my husband and two daughters Christine and Karen. We come home at least once a year to visit friends. It would be nice to know if anyone remembers me from my schooldays or from St Mary's Church which both Jim and I attended.

Hello again, I have just re-tried the link and it didn't work very well so try this instead http://www.travelinenortheast.info/k2p/usp.nsf/pws/Keys+to+the+past+-+Home+Page if you 'copy and paste' it should be ok. Then go to the Local Histories and as before. I live in Newsham if that is any help at all??Paul Rookledge.

www.travelinenortheast.info try this website and click on Local Histories and then B for Blyth. This gives you a page about the history of Blyth, if you go down the page to where it says Newsham Colliery and click on that. It opens a map of the present day with a drop down list of years underneath. Select 1951-1959 and just below the X is Double and Single Rows. Click on the 'Compare Maps' bottom right and it does a split screen comparison of where it would be now. This would have been part of Newsham Colliery. Hope this helps.

Hello Harry. I only lived there from 1963-1969 but only have very fond memories of the place, fishing, bird nesting n footall, what more could a lad want.Worst thing they ever did was pulling the place down when modernising would have done, never mind those really were the days.Best wishes.
