A leading Aberdeen chef has added his support to a new Scottish government campaign to promote fresh local food.
The Eat Fresh, Eat Seasonal initiative is now backed by Robbie Robertson, who is the executive development chef for EES Compass and previously prepared dishes for the Queen, Madonna and Girls Aloud.
It is designed to highlight the quality of the Scottish food and drink industry, something that may interest those planning to stay in hotels in Aberdeenshire.
Mr Robertson, 38, demonstrated the qualities of local cuisine at the Bon Accord Centre in Aberdeen by creating a pork fillet salad and strawberry and rhubarb cranachan.
"Every season in Scotland offers people the chance to taste a variety of wonderful locally-grown produce," he declared.
Scottish rural affairs secretary Richard Lochhead, who launched the campaign, said that a "surge" has been seen in demand for Scottish produce in recent years.
In addition to traditional local food, breaks in Aberdeenshire could also include walks in the cairngorms, salmon fishing in its rivers, exploring the unspoilt coastline and visiting picturesque castles.
