Those planning to stay in hotels in the Lake District during the Easter period this year could visit the town of Workington.
Host each year to a unique game known as Uppies and Downies, the Cumbrian market town and seaport is located at the mouth of the River Derwent.
Dating back to Medieval times, the traditional sport is an historical version of football and is played across the town between two goals around a mile apart.
Teams from the upper and lower sides of the town attempt to get a ball to targets at the harbour and the park wall of Workington Hall.
With few rules, the boisterous games attracts large crowds each year and raise significant sums for local charities.
Games are played on Good Friday, the following Tuesday and Easter Saturday.
Parts of Workington date back to the Roman occupation and it is home to attractive churches, a museum, a 14th century tower.
