Children aged five to 13 can attend free Play Ranger sessions in North Herts during February half-term. Trained rangers will supervise the youngsters as they play outside in parks and open spaces, try new resources and take on fresh challenges.
The 90-minute sessions are free and do not need to be booked. Children can be left to take part in the supervised activities although parents and carers are welcome to stay if they wish. There is no need to book in advance.

Half-term sessions are being held at Breachwood Green Recreation Ground; Avenue Park, Baldock; Bancroft Gardens, Hitchin; Howard Gardens, Letchworth; Priory Gardens, Royston; Ashwell Recreation Ground; Weston Recreation Ground and the play area at Great Ashby. Full details are on the website www.north-herts.gov.uk or are available by calling NHDC on 01462 474000.

Cllr Tricia Cowley, NHDC Portfolio Holder for Community Engagement, said: "Play Rangers offer children the chance to try out art, crafts, games, sports, den building and activities such as playing with sand and water - in short just the kind of activities they love.

"Lots of children have told us they want more opportunities to play outdoors but sometimes they don't get the chance to visit their local park. By going along to a Play Rangers session they can have fun with people who are all trained in play work, first aid and child protection.

"NHDC is committed to helping young people stay healthy, happy and safely occupied. The free Play Rangers scheme is an ideal way to reach as many youngsters as possible."
