Mancunians have been touched by the plight of people in Haiti and have played their part in bringing aid and emergency relief to the hundreds of thousands of people affected by the recent earthquake.
Firefighters from Greater Manchester rescued a two year old girl from the rubble of a fallen building in Haiti and were praised in Parliament for their lifesaving work. In the North West alone more than £3.5m was rasied for the Disasters and Emergency Committee Appeal in Haiti.
Support and involvement from people in the region has been unprecedented. From school collections in Hyde, coffee mornings in Didsbury, to a performance of Durufle's Requiem in Manchester Cathedral, hundreds have been in the front line to raise much needed funds.
