Notes from the PCC- 10th March

It was reported that over 40 people attended the consultation concerning the dilapidated former school toilet block being St George's Church, Darlingscott. It has been in a dangerous state for some time, and the insurers required us either to demolish or make it safe. A clear majority wanted the ruined building retained, and the money has been offered to do this. Work to remove the tree growing through the middle of it, and to make the remains of the building safe has been put in hand.

It was agreed to purchase new wooden chairs for the renovated chancel at St Gregory's. It was reported that the table constructed by Peter Hills has now been completed, and will soon be brought to the church. There was a brief update on the special investigation procedure at our Church School. It was agreed to move one Holy Communion service from 8am to 10.30 to make a more balanced provision for the congregation. The "8 o'clockers" had been fully consulted.

The new pattern will be 8am 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month; 10.30am 2nd, 4th (and 5th) Sundays. There was strong support to petition the Bishop so that the Ministers could have their licence extended by an extra year from Easter 2011 when they will complete their 5-year contract.
