Dementia care home plans rejected

PROPOSALS for a care home for up to 30 people with dementia have been turned down.

Tendring Council's planning committee voted against the unit in Kirby Road, Great Holland, last night despite recommendations that it should be given the go-ahead.

Protestors had drawn up a list of objections to the home, including road safety fears.

There were also concerns about the type of patients at the home.

Integrity Care Services, which would have operated the facility, said the people living there would have been "confused" but not aggressive.

A previous bid to build a 35-bed unit at the same site had already been turned down.
