Driving is a crucial service provided by Guide Dogs’ volunteers across the country, and we are appealing for volunteer drivers in the Nottingham area who have experience of towing whilst driving, and would be willing to drive one of our transit vans towing an exhibition trailer to various shows and fundraising events. Alongside your towing experience all you need is an ordinary driving licence (plus part B+E) as additional training will be provided.
Drivers who tow may also be asked to carry out other Guide Dogs driving work using their own vehicles. Other jobs could include transporting dogs and puppies short or long distances, for instance from our breeding centre in Warwickshire to the homes of volunteer puppy walkers. Guide dog owners may also need assistance from a four-wheeled friend with getting to a venue, or equipment may need transporting to an event. Again, all you need to help is an ordinary driving licence and the use of your own vehicle. We pay the mileage and provide the company!
Please note this role will require an Enhanced Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) Disclosure.
Volunteering is fun and rewarding – you know you are helping to make a real difference to the lives of blind and partially-sighted people. It is a chance to get out and about and meet people from all walks of life.
