My painting of Deerpark Oast

The story goes:-
I spotted the deer in my picture when I was out and about near Sevenoaks Kent looking for locations to paint. I specialise in capturing the moods and atmosphere in my much loved county of Kent.
The deer were grazing on an open piece of grassland in woodland - they spotted me instantly and were gone!
I decided I needed to walk to the spot as my car was always going to frighten them off. After about my fourth attempt I crept up to find about 8 deer grazing. I had my camera at the ready but they were off - all except one who was concentrating on having a good chew - I got one shot of him before he realised the others had gone. He shot off then stopped to look back at me so I got another picture of him. When I painted the whole scene which has a lovely Oast in the background I included both shots of the deer. The fallen logs are still there today.I think they must have fallen during the 1987 hurricane
