The main reason we developed www.dating40plus.net was to counter the view that once you reach 40 or 50 you are senior or mature.
Well, okay, most people are mature. But the to be a mature segment in a market is probably pretty off-putting to most people.
This is a classic case of market segmentation not being in tune with customers. Potential members don’t think of themselves as senior when they are over 40, but dating sites need to identify them that way to break down the market.
I find it a bit off-putting. At 50 I don’t think of myself as senior. I travel, am curious about life and people and in fact and researching universities at the moment to find an MA program.
How old you are is really about how you feel about yourself and what your goals are in life. Tune into yourself – what your needs and wants are, and what things bring you happiness in life. Don’t follow unwritten rules about how you should be just because you’re a bit afraid of standing out.
In other words, be yourself and be true to yourself. One of my favourite quotes is from Einstein. He was asked to explain his achievements and remarkable ability to be creative, intuitive and successful in science. His answer was that he never lost the curiosity of his childhood.
If you have that, then you’re as young as you want to be.
