From 21 – 26 March, Ledbury & District U3A held a very successful exhibition at the Weavers Gallery in Ledbury and many townspeople together with visitors from further afield were welcomed through the doors free of charge. Once inside they were able to get a flavour of what The University of the Third Age (U3A) is all about and the varied activities which are on offer within the local organisation.
The Exhibition was officially opened by Town Mayor, Paul Winter, and Town Crier, Bill the Bell, was available on the Tuesday morning to announce proceedings. Visitors were treated to some extremely fine examples of needlecraft, photography and artwork, and from those interest groups which do not ‘make’ anything, very imaginative displays gave an excellent insight into the nature of their groups. Background music was chosen by members of the various music groups.
As a result of this exhibition, several of visitors became members of Ledbury & District U3A and some existing members have been inspired to join additional groups.
In addition to the Interest Groups, members are entitled to attend the Monthly General Meetings (MGMs). The next MGM will be on April 21st at The Community Hall, Lawnside Road, Ledbury from 2pm until 3.30pm. The guest speaker will be Doreen Jones who will be telling of her experiences working in a Romanian Orphanage.
